Surfing in Northern Portugal
Surf school 20 minutes from Porto. Consistent waves, few people in the water, and a calm approach to learning or evolving.
Surfing Step by Step
We believe that surfing in northern Portugal should be learnt calmly, progressively and with respect for the ocean. No rush, no big groups, no typical surf camp atmosphere.
Step by Step Atlantic is a surf school in Porto, in Azurara (Vila do Conde), right in front of one of the most consistent beaches on the north coast. We give surf lessons in Porto for all levels, in quiet spots with few people in the water, and with instructors who have decades of experience in the sea.
Whether it's your first time in the ocean or you've been practising for years, this is a place to surf in peace.

SPOT
The beach in front of the guesthouse offers waves all year round. It's a versatile spot that works with different swell and wind conditions.
The north coast is still far from the crowds of Ericeira or Peniche. Here, it's common to have the peak to yourself. For those who want to learn, this makes all the difference - more waves, less stress.
Typical conditions:
- Consistent north-westerly swell
- Works with medium and low tides
- Ideal for beginners and intermediates
- Beach break with sandy bottom
