Walk the Way, Feel the Waves
A quiet guesthouse on the north coast of Portugal, 30 minutes from Porto.
Where the Path Meets the Sea
Step by Step Atlantic is a guesthouse on the north coast of Portugal, created for people travelling - whether with a backpack on the Camino de Santiago or a surfboard under their arm.
Located on the Portuguese Coastal Path in Azurara Vila do Conde, just a few steps from the Atlantic, our guesthouse is a place to slow down, rest and reconnect - with the sea, with the path and with yourself.
Simple, authentic and connected to nature. A meeting point between land and sea.

For Pilgrims
O Coastal Path passes right outside our door. Here, pilgrims find a peaceful stop along the Way - private rooms, hot showers and a calm atmosphere to rest and recover before the next stage.
For surf lovers
The beach in front of our guesthouse has consistent waves and few people in the water. We believe that surfing should be learnt step by step - calmly, progressively and with respect for the ocean.
Lessons for all levels. Instructors with over 30 years' experience at sea.

For Slow Travellers
Not everyone comes walking or surfing. Some come just to stop - wake up without rushing, spend the day between the beach and the terrace, have a restful dinner and do it again.
50 metres from the sea, far from the noise, this is a place for slow days.

What our guests say
We had a lovely stay here! The house is beautifully decorated, so we felt right at home. The beds are very comfortable and spotlessly clean. What’s more, the towels were lovely and soft.
I loved it. The house is just a short walk from the beach, which was brilliant for a quick dip before breakfast or to watch the sunset.
Very friendly and helpful. Thank you very much, especially to the kind lady who helped me get in touch with the Uber driver who’d gone to the wrong place. She even drove me to him in her own car! I’m very grateful,
The property was situated right on the Senda Litoral route, which made it very easy to find whilst walking the Camino de Santiago.
The host was extremely friendly and welcoming. Everything was spotlessly clean, the room had everything I needed and the breakfast was excellent.
After several days on the Camino de Santiago, this was the perfect place to stop, take a breather and recharge my batteries. A peaceful setting, close to the sea, ideal for relaxing, meditating and taking a break from the pace of the walk.
I also took the opportunity to go surfing, and it was an incredible experience. Hugo exudes a sense of calm and expertise out at sea that makes everything feel very natural, even for those who are there more for the connection and the experience than for performance.
Genuine hospitality and a really great atmosphere. A special place along the way.
A wonderful experience in Azurara. A house with a lovely atmosphere, peaceful, in a great location and perfect for a few days spent focusing on surfing.
The highlight was definitely the quality of the surf sessions and Hugo’s technical expertise. You can really tell he’s an award-winning surfer, both in the way he reads the sea and the way he tailors his advice to each individual. I learnt a lot and had a brilliant time in the water.
Impeccable hospitality from start to finish.
An incredible experience in Azurara! The accommodation has a great atmosphere, is really comfortable and perfect for anyone who loves surfing. The surf sessions were epic and made the stay even more special.
The hosts make all the difference: they’re incredibly welcoming, always on hand and full of positive energy. We felt right at home from day one. 5 stars, no doubt about it!
The host was really friendly, and the location was great for anyone who likes surfing and is looking for a peaceful atmosphere. The guesthouse was brand new, so everything was spotlessly clean. They also offered surfboard and wetsuit hire, which was brilliant!
We’ve had a wonderful time here over the last two days of our holiday!
